Material Handling - Lead

Location: Springfield, MO

CSI is hiring for a Material Handling Lead at our Springfield, MO location.

As a high performing working lead position, the Lead will have significant influence and responsibility for material handling including staging of incoming material and coordinating of outbound shipments.

The Lead will proactively engage with CSI business systems (including the ERP) to direct and manage material handling with excellence. This role will be engaged interdepartmentally to ensure incoming material placement and outgoing shipments are accurate. This role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail to achieve 100% customer satisfaction, and is creative in offering technical solutions to improve processes. They will be curious, take ownership, demonstrate a sense of urgency, and help foster an environment of continuous improvement.


This position is responsible for a variety of functions within the material handling processes. This role leads and oversees all activities related to material receiving, staging, picking, and issuing, packaging, and shipping. Collaboration with manufacturing leadership, distribution operations staff, project managers and coordination is required. This role is responsible for guiding, directing, and mentoring material handing operations while being a primary point of contact for other departments.

Salary: $23 - $26 per hour

The Material Handling Lead duties include (not an all inclusive list):

Lead
• Assign daily tasks for material handling team
• Perform job tasks as part of crew necessary to complete the work
• Monitor productivity and quality of all team members and report to manager
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations by team members
• Administer and enforce all CSI safety policies and procedures with a high level of concern for safety
• Daily inspection of equipment (CSI owned and rented) such as forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
• Respond to request of customers, internal and external, positively and timely
• Provide real time status update on staged orders, jobs, material and pending inbound shipments to leadership, upon request

Inbound
• Check in and receive all types of material per procedure
• Receive and document lot tracked material per procedure
• Put away parts and stage job material in appropriate work cell or staging area
Job Material Management
• Retrieve issued job material from staging area and take to point of use
• Pick inventory and take to point of use
• Cleaning of parts for manufacturing
Outbound
• Assemble and disassemble parts and equipment
• Package products for safe and secure shipment
o Crating, bagging, shrink wrapping, etc.

Required Skills:

Education/Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Technical training, preferred
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification, required
  • Class E Driver’s License, required
  • Ability to obtain DOT Medical Card, required

Experience:

  • Experience fabricating sanitary stainless steel products, preferred Computer knowledge, required
  • Epicor Kinetic software, preferred

Standard hours for this role are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. More than 40 hours per week may occasionally be required in order to achieve the productivity necessary for this position. Overnight travel, Saturday, Sunday and holiday hours may occasionally be required but are not anticipated with this position.
The ability to effectively perform a variety of mental and physical tasks within the scope of the work order system, with or without reasonable accommodation, is essential to the performance of this position. This position requires standing, bending, kneeling, and stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 75 pounds with assistance. Visual acuity is required to perform work using close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be exposed to environmental factors typical of manufacturing. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, such as gloves, safety glasses and steel toe shoes. Must be able to safely operate a vehicle.
