Customer Service Representative - Valve Specialist

Location: Grand Prairie, TX

Job Description:

CSI provides hygienic pipe, valves, fittings, pumps, and heat exchangers to industrial companies and industrial service providers.

We are searching for a qualified candidate that is responsible for all tasks related to the technical and mechanical support, application assessment, quoting, sales support, and sales/work order execution regarding valve sales at CSI. The role assists other departments in CSI with application, pricing, and ordering. The role assists the Service and Repair staff with job evaluation, estimating and parts scheduling. The successful execution of these behaviors is instrumental in CSI’s recognition as a go-to source for hygienic process valves. The person in this role adopts CSI’s culture of learning, curiosity, and intellectual humility pursuing general knowledge of distributed products and processes and equipment application in support of customers.

The primary focus is to provide all internal and external customers with technical and mechanical support related to valves during the quote, closing and order execution stages across multiple departments including Customer Service, Engineering, and project execution. The person in this position must be highly organized, have a mechanical background, and possess excellent communication skills. The successful execution of this support directly results in increased sales of valves, valves spare parts, and valve service at CSI.

The person in this position demonstrates a desire to secure orders and grow business in the valve segment for CSI. Others will observe desire, commitment, and passion for every valve opportunity. Salary: $24 - $28 per hour

The following job functions listed are a guideline and may require updating as changes occur.


Primary Functions
• Size and specify valves based on product/process conditions provided
• Create quotes and orders for new and existing customers per standard daily
• Take customer calls to provide technical assistance, pricing, availability, etc., daily
• Provide valve based technical assistance to internal and external customers
• Assist in the evaluation of customer’s warranty claims
• Execute proper review and updates of the open order report, including communication for internal and external customers, daily
• Support sales efforts through questioning and qualifying the prospect, daily
• Ensure proper handling of return goods
• Communicate with vendors to purchase and expedite drop ship goods
• Set up new customer accounts
• Coordinate any special logistic needs as required by customer

Expected Behaviors
• Respond to internal or external customer’s emails within one hour
• Include sales in customer interactions including: quotes, orders, new customers, national account activity, and territory related accounts, daily.
• Maintain all accounts, contacts, and records in the CRM. Record all pertinent conversations to CRM

This position requires mechanical aptitude, exceptional organizational skills, intermediate-to- advanced computer and keyboarding skills, and initiative. The ability to communicate and develop relationships with customers is critical. A successful Customer Advocate will be detail oriented, able to multi-task and will not be intimidated by the decision making requirements brought about by situational needs.

Required Experience:

Education/Training

High school diploma/GED
College credits; preferred
Bachelor of Science; preferred
Technical (mechanical) emphasis, preferred
Experience

Sanitary valve knowledge, required
3-5 years valve experience, required
Extensive mechanical experience, preferred
Experience in technical problem solving and trouble shooting, preferred
It is generally expected that an applications team member will work an average of 45 hours during a normal work week. However, due to the sporadic nature of our production requirements, work hours may be increased or decreased throughout the normal work week to correspond with the man-hour capacity required. No overtime is guaranteed.


This position requires the ability to interact with employees verbally and in writing, remain in a stationary position for 80% of the workday, have close visual acuity, and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a phone, copy/fax/scan machine, computer keyboard and mouse with or without reasonable accommodation. This position also requires the ability to occasionally lift, stoop, bend, and lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
