MS SQL Database Administrator

Location:

Position Summary: The Database Administrator plays a key part in maintaining server availability/uptime. In this role, a person will be responsible for performance tuning misbehaving systems as issues arise, helping maintain the SQL Servers (patching and installing), and ensuring backups/maintenance is working. This role is the owner of all SSRS reports in use, and responsible for maintaining current reports and creating new ones. This position is part of a highly collaborative environment working with other skilled professionals which include business analysts and software developers to ensure data integrity, optimize database performance, and support business intelligence initiatives.

Primary Functions

  • Install and maintain MS SQL Servers
  • Plan, manage and optimize SQL server HA/DR policies and procedures
  • Create/migrate, refresh and deploy databases
  • Create and maintain database replication plans
  • Create and maintain database backup, maintenance and restore plans
  • Create automation for repeating database tasks
  • Monitor and troubleshoot performance related issues
  • Test disaster recovery scenarios
  • Create tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and report queries related to database administration
  • Develop, adapt, troubleshoot, and maintain SSRS SQL Forms and robust SQL reports.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database processes and procedures
  • Work with third party vendors as required.
  • Assume other database duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Education/Training & Experience

Experience with Epicor MS SQL databases and MS SSRS report builder required

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or 6+ years experience in MS SQL database administration

Strong proficiency in SQL programing skills with the ability to write complex queries, stored procedures, views, and triggers.

Experience with database optimization and performance monitoring and tuning

Competency using Project Management software and Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

More than 40 hours per week may occasionally be required in order to achieve the productivity necessary for this position. Overnight travel, Saturday, Sunday and holiday hours may occasionally be required but are not anticipated with this position.

This position requires the ability to interact with employees verbally and in writing, remain in a stationary position for 80% of the workday, have close visual acuity, and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a phone, copy/fax/scan machine, computer keyboard and mouse with or without reasonable accommodation. This position also requires the ability to occasionally lift, stoop, bend, and lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
