Buyer

Location: Springfield, MO

Job Description:

CSI is looking to hire an organized and creative person for our Buyer position. This position will procure products for distribution and fabrication; maintain descriptions, process acknowledgments, and work to maintain appropriate inventory levels.

The Buyer role requires a high level of detail process orientation and critical thinking skills. The person in this role will have to demonstrate curiosity regarding CSI distributed and manufactured products and equipment, CSI customers, customer products and customer processes, CSI’s ERP system and related business systems including MRP processes and CSI suppliers, relationships and pricing.

This role requires someone who has a passion for supply chain management, buying and inventory fulfillment and has the ability to manage sequence of duties amid changing priorities. Priorities come from multiple people and fearless communication is required to establish appropriate prioritization and sequence.

Salary: $23 - $25 per hour. This is an onsite position.

Primary Functions (not an all inclusive list):

  • Review Suggested Order Reports and purchase inventory on assigned vendors
  • Review expected and late material in Buyers Workbench and work with suppliers to expedite when necessary. Update all dates in the system in order to effectively communicate material arrival expectations.
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with vendors. Present the best possible image to all vendors and ensure CSI is a desired customer. Communicate to vendor all appropriate CSI product specifications and MTR requirements and resolve all issues regarding nonconforming material. Seek out and evaluate potential vendors as needed- daily
  • Review acknowledgements for assigned vendors, ensure accurate material expected dates are updated in the system and reviewing pricing on PO against acknowledgment and work to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Assist all departments with quotes and estimates on standard and non-standard items
  • Assist fabrication, Field Services and Process Engineering by obtaining quotes, purchasing and expediting materials needed for projects
  • Assist departments such as product management and marketing with attribution, descriptions, and other content development work
  • Maintain and assist with Supplier Price lists for accurate information for all sites including buy prices and other terms.
  • Data Integrity Accuracy: Data should be free from errors, inaccuracies, or inconsistencies that could lead to misinterpretation or incorrect conclusions.
  • Data Integrity Completeness: Data should be complete, containing all necessary information and fields required for its intended purpose.
  • Data Integrity Timeliness: Data should be up-to-date and relevant to the current business context. Timely data ensures that decision-makers have access to the most recent information and insights to support effective decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Data Integrity Continuous Monitoring and improvement: Regularly monitoring part, part site, part plant, and vendor price list records.

Education/Training:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, required
  • College degree, preferred

Experience:

  • Epicor E10 Experience, preferred
  • Previous purchasing experience, preferred
  • Industrial pipe, valve, and fittings experience

Skills:

  • Excellent listening skills, required
  • Ability to professionally communicate verbally and in writing, required
  • Computer proficiency with Word and Excel, required

More than 40 hours per week may occasionally be required in order to achieve the productivity necessary for this position. Overnight travel, Saturday, Sunday and holiday hours may occasionally be required but are not anticipated with this position.

This position requires the ability to interact with employees verbally and in writing, remain in a stationary position for 80% of the workday, have close visual acuity, and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a phone, copy/fax/scan machine, computer keyboard and mouse with or without reasonable accommodation. This position also requires the ability to occasionally lift, stoop, bend, and lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
