CSI is looking for that motivated individual to join our team of successful designers in changing the way that process piping is accomplished on installation projects.
Job Description:
This position is responsible for the design of process piping systems for installation projects. This also includes data capture with 3D scanning, equipment layout, piping support structure layout and design coordination of field projects. From the early stages of capturing 3D scans to the final stages of onsite installation, the piping designer gets to be actively engaged in all design aspects.
Supporting multiple projects at different stages of the design process at the same time is common. This position requires a disciplined individual, able to demonstrate enormous initiative and persistence in the development of detailed piping systems.

Salary: $25 - $36 per hour depending on experience and knowledge
Primary Functions (This list is not all inclusive):
Drafting/Design
• Creation and maintenance in the following areas:
o Creating and maintaining the organization of project files and folders.
o Publishing of new components in the CAD library.
o Maintaining integrity of the current component’s library.
o Creating design utilities for increased productivity.
• Creation of execution (lead) of medium to complex project designs that conform to the company’s standard installation styles and /or methods i.e piping system layout design, rack supports, equipment installations.
o Reviewing pertinent project spec information.
o Reading and understanding P&ID’s for projects.
o Interpreting customer design requirements and providing problem solving assistance.
o Scheduling required project meetings including kickoff, reviews and project installation debrief.
o Selection of proper material for projects as it relates to cost and availability.
o Identify and establish cost saving designs.
o Visiting customers’ facilities and gathering the necessary measurements for use in piping installation detailing.
o Determining efficient pipe routing.
o Eliminate interference between new pipe and equipment with existing installations.
o Designing pipe rack supports per customer and/or CSI specifications.
o Create detailed isometric drawings for pre-fabrication of piping systems.
o Create detailed shop drawings for pre-fabrication of pipe racks.
o Create detailed BOM’s based on design.
o Online and On-Site design presentations for design reviews.
o Integration of ETO equipment models provided by the Fabrication Design team.
o Assisting project management with design information during the quoting phase of projects
o On-site & remote design assistance during installation projects.
• Reality Capture/3D scanning
o On-Site 3D scanning of existing customer facilities.
o Post processing point cloud data from the 3D scans.
o Integration of point cloud data with CAD models.
o Troubleshooting and solutioning of 3D scans and scanning equipment.
Installations
• Provide technical assistance for designed installation proposals
• Convey and provide accurate design information/specifications (including bill of materials and manufacturing steps) to the coordination group for a dependable work order
• Eliminate costly work-in-progress drawing revisions that impede with the aggressive production and installation schedule and stimulate future inefficiencies
• Organize and maintain design aids/ instrumentation/ equipment libraries and data to lead design efficiencies

More than 40 hours per week will typically be required in order to achieve the productivity necessary for this position. Overnight travel, Saturday, Sunday and holiday hours will regularly be required with this position.
This position requires the ability to interact with employees verbally and in writing, remain in a stationary position for 80% of the workday, have close visual acuity, and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a phone, copy/fax/scan machine, computer keyboard and mouse with or without reasonable accommodation. This position also requires the ability to occasionally lift, stoop, bend, and lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
