CNC Machinist

Location: Kenosha, WI

Job Description:

This is a diverse position with a wide variety of responsibilities requiring a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and adaptability to changing workloads in a job-shop machining environment. The role involves operating, setting up, and programming a variety of machining equipment—including Mazak CNC lathes, mills, and multi-axis machines (Dual Turn 20, Multiplex 6200 II Y, Vertical Center Nexus 530C, Quick Turn Nexus 200-II, Quick Turn Nexus 200M, and Quick Turn 350M)—using Mazatrol programming.


The primary business focus centers around machining 300 series stainless steel and higher nickel alloys, though exposure to other alloys will occur due to our diverse customer base. Salary: $27-$30 per hour

Primary Functions

CNC Lathe & Multi-Axis Machines (Mazak / Mazatrol – Standard & Non-Standard Components)

  • Set up, program, and operate the following Mazak machines:
    • Dual Turn 20
    • Multiplex 6200 II Y
    • Quick Turn Nexus 200-II
    • Quick Turn Nexus 200M
    • Quick Turn 350M
  • Utilize Mazatrol conversational programming and G-code as required
  • Change required tooling and set offsets
  • Run day-to-day production and prototype jobs

CNC and Manual Mill (Standard & Non-Standard Components)

  • Set up and operate, including Mazak Vertical Center Nexus 530C
  • Load parts and change tooling
  • Run machining cycles as needed

Other Equipment

  • Band saw
  • Polishing wheels
  • Manual engine lathe
  • Manual vertical mills

Measuring Devices

  • Calipers
  • Dial indicators
  • Depth micrometers
  • Micrometers (ID and OD)
  • Portable surface roughness gage
  • Steel scales
  • Other devices as applicable

Other Position Requirements

  • Verify use of correct bar material
  • Remove all chips for incoming shift
  • Perform nightly cleaning, wipe down, chip removal, and appropriate oiling of equipment
  • Complete machine timecard entries accurately

Daily Responsibilities

  • Complete timecard daily
  • Assist in maintaining orderly shop areas, equipment, and facilities
  • Communicate any safety concerns with Plant Manager
  • Be available to support additional capacity in other plant areas when needed

Required Experience:

Education/Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Hands-on experience with the following Mazak machines
    • Dual Turn 20
    • Multiplex 6200 II Y
    • Vertical Center Nexus 530C
    • Quick Turn Nexus 200-II
    • Quick Turn Nexus 200M
    • Quick Turn 350M
  • Proficiency with Mazatrol programming
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of machining practices for stainless steel and nickel alloys
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and inspection processes
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability to shifting workloads
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality standards
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Standard workday for this role is 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Monday through Friday. Lunch is taken from 12:00– 12:30, and there is one paid break at 9:00 am to 9:10am.
